The heritage conserved by the Associazione Archivio Storico Olivetti consists of documents, letters, books, journals, magazines, posters, drawings, films, audio-visuals, products, models and plastic models that are the subject of systematic electronic cataloguing and where possible digitalisation.
The Association’s activities are not strictly limited to those concerning the recovery, cataloguing and preservation of documents but also include providing assistance and consulting to scholars and researchers, working with private and public bodies on cultural initiatives, setting up exhibitions, films, conferences, studies, research and publications aimed at promoting and broadening knowledge of the history and values of Olivetti.
With the same goal, the Association also manages and continuously enriches its website www.storiaolivetti.it with short texts and numerous images to illustrate the different aspects of Olivetti’s history.
In addition, in 2016, the Archivi Digitali Olivetti were published showing the catalogued and digitalised work carried out in the first twenty years of the Association’s activities. For the first time, this new online platform provides access to the cultural heritage, unique for its interdisciplinarity, inherent company records, people, bodies and institutions as well as documentary collections of the history of Olivetti, from 1908 up to today.
On behalf of the Fondazione Adriano Olivetti, the Association provides not simply a documentation heritage conservation of the Olivetti Family members but also of other leading players who were involved with Olivetti, for example, the architect Ludovico Quaroni.
The Associazione Archivio Storico Olivetti complies with the National Archive System (SAN) promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
