\nCatalogue of the exhibition organised by the Associazione Archivio Storico Olivetti.
\nThe catalogue features dozens of advertisements, posters and photographs depicting one of the 20th century’s most iconic, innovative and “transgressive” typewriters.
\n“\u2026\u2026I imagined Valentine as the ballpoint pen of typewriters, a product that would be sold in heaps. The Valentine typewriter was born as a popular product by Olivetti, by contrast to the “chic” character of the Lettera 22. This was clear from everything: from the design to the advertising. In the advertising image, the Lettera 22 model is being carried by a rich and elegant lady who is disembarking an airplane, while Valentine appeared in the midst of English children playing football\u2026” (Ettore Sottsass).<\/p>\n
